Curtin University & Perdaman Chemicals & Fertilisers have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on coal gasification research and development.
The five-year agreement gives PCF access to expertise and facilities at the Curtin Centre for Advanced Energy Science and Engineering and provides an opportunity for Curtin students to put theory into practice at a world class gasification facility.

WestNet Rail and Perdaman Chemicals and Fertilisers late yesterday signed a Heads of Agreement (HOA) in a deal which aims to provide rail track access for the Perdaman Collie Urea project and significant growth and revenue opportunities for WestNet Rail.
This early commitment to work together towards providing capacity was required to enable PCF to engage with potential financiers and to invite the rail operators to tender for PCF's rail transport operations.
PCF Chairman and Managing Director Vikas Rambal said "The HOA provides the framework for increased benefits for both parties with WNR extending the use of the rail network and increasing track access revenue and PCF securing rail access which is vital to the project's success".
Shire of Collie agrees to amendments for Shotts Industrial Park
State Government plans to create an industrial park near Collie have taken a step forward following the Shire of Collie's endorsement to amend the Town Planning Scheme.
Regional Development and Lands Minister Brendon Grylls said Shotts Industrial Park would help ensure Collie's future as a centre for industry and employment.
"Land on which the industrial park will be built is predominantly owned by the Government but held under a variety of titles and zonings. The land needs to be rezoned to build the park. To achieve this, we have proposed amendments to the Shire of Collie's town planning scheme, which the Shire has supported."
Energy Digital - Urea Production
Energy Digital spoke with Mr Andreas Walewski - Director (Corporate) in order to gain an insight into Perdaman Industries, the Western Australian based multinational group with a current focus, through its subsidiary Perdaman Chemicals and Fertilisers, on the production of urea, the most commonly traded nitrogenous fertiliser.

Collie project flies the flag for Carbon Capture & Storage
Western Australia has maintained
its momentum in developing carbon capture and storage technology,
with the proposed Collie South West Hub nominated for a share of
A$2 billion in Federal Government funding.
The project was one of four around Australia shortlisted for the
Federal Government's Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Flagship
Program, which will support construction and demonstration of
large-scale integrated projects across the country.
Funding for the study was formalised in a memorandum of understanding in June 2009 between the Department of Mines and Petroleum and five other companies including Perdaman Chemicals & Fertilisers.

The Australian Government Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Development has granted Perdaman Chemicals & Fertilisers Major Project Facilitation (MPF) status.
MPF is administered with the purpose of facilitating and supporting private sector investment proposals throughout the approvals process and ensures that the Australian Government responds promptly to issues raised.
In addition, Perdaman has developed an Australian Industry Participation Plan to ensure that Australian industry is provided with full, fair and reasonable opportunity to participate in the Project. One of the main aspects of the AIPP is the use of Project Connect (www.projectconnect.com.au) to communicate supply opportunities and facilitate expressions of interest.

Owners of the $220 million Alluvion building have announced three new tenants, including fertiliser company Perdaman Industries and a well-known Perth restaurateur, taking the building to 100% capacity.
The full house announcement comes just two months before the building is expected to be completed. "We are very happy to get to that 100% mark," said Charter Hall's leasing director Emil Joubert "It is clearly a vindication in the product.."
Alluvion, on Mounts Bay Road, has 22,400sqm of net lettable space and comes with a 4.5 NABERS energy rating.
Western Australia leading Carbon Capture charge
Western Australia is playing a
leading role in the battle against climate change with major carbon
capture and storage demonstration projects currently planned or
proposed in the State.
One of these, the proposed Collie Hub in the South West, would be a
multi-user CCS project featuring five companies including Perdaman
Chemicals & Fertilisers.
Carbon Strategy Coordinator, Dominique Van Gent, said it was vital
for Australia as a whole to find ways to prevent carbon emissions,
"Australia is the world's largest coal exporter and the fourth
largest coal producer, which makes the development of carbon
capture and storage vital to protecting the employment and wealth
created by this sector."
